In response to allegations that NPR is a \u201cbiased propaganda machine,\u201d NPR CEO Katherine Maher claims, \u201cPlease show me a story that concerns you because we want to know.\u201d Here are 14 such stories:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
1) NPR reported that \u201cwhite school districts have so much more money\u201d than those that serve \u201cstudents of color\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 NPR excluded federal funding, which has equalized per-student spending between minority and non-minority school districts since the early 1970s.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

2) NPR accused President Trump of calling \u201csome of the white nationalists\u201d at a violent protest \u201cvery fine people\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 Trump stated that they were \u201cvery bad people,\u201d explicitly \u201ccondemned\u201d them, and emphasized that the \u201cvery fine people\u201d were not the white supremacists but other people who showed up to \u201cinnocently\u201d and \u201clegally\u201d protest.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

3) NPR reported it is false that \u201cthe federal government is banning incandescent light bulbs\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 that is what the law required and what ultimately happened.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

4) NPR reported that \u201cmore than 99% of recent deaths\u201d from Covid-19 in 2021 \u201cwere among the unvaccinated\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 more than half of all Covid deaths were among the fully vaccinated.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

5) Without pushback, NPR reported the statement of a Democrat politician who alleged that Wisconsin judge Hannah Dugan was justified in obstructing ICE from arresting an illegal immigrant because ICE \u201cdid not have a real warrant signed by a real judge\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 ICE had the correct warrant to conduct the arrest.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

6) NPR reported that \u201cclimate change\u201d is causing hurricanes to move \u201cmore slowly, which means more damage\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 the study that NPR coyly cited states that the \u201canalyses presented here do not constitute a detection and attribution study because there are likely to be many factors, natural and anthropogenic, that control tropical-cyclone translation speed.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

7) NPR reported that Joe Biden \u201chas not explicitly expressed support for late-term abortions\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 Biden explicitly supported codifying Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortions up till birth if abortionists merely claimed they were for \u201chealth.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

8 NPR reported that the \u201cU.S. Park Police and National Guard troops\u201d used \u201ctear gas\u201d against \u201cpeople nonviolently protesting police brutality\u201d to clear the way for a \u201cTrump church photo-op\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 the protestors were violent, the protest was cleared because of their violence, the timing had nothing to do with Trump, and it was the DC Police (under the Democrat mayor) who deployed the teargas.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

9) NPR reported that \u201cmorning-after pills don\u2019t cause abortion\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 they destroy embryos before they implant, which many doctors, scientists, and citizens consider to be abortions.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

10) NPR reported that the perpetrator of a Colorado movie theater massacre used an \u201cassault rifle\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 he had a common semi-automatic rifle, not an \u201cassault rifle,\u201d which are used by the military and have been generally banned for civilians since 1986.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

11) NPR reported that not raising the debt ceiling could cause the federal government to \u201cdefault\u201d on its debt \u2014 when in reality \u2014 it would force the federal government to run a balanced budget and would not result in a debt default unless the president flouted the law and the Constitution.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

12) NPR reported that a study on illegal voting by non-citizens was based on \u201cdiscredited estimates\u201d from a \u201cwidely contested 2014 paper\u201d that was rejected by 200 political scientists \u2014 when in reality \u2014 that claim has always been questionable and was irrelevant to the study at hand, which uses data from 2022.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

13) NPR reported that a \u201cpayroll tax holiday\u201d \u201creduced Social Security\u2019s revenues\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 the law that created the payroll tax holiday required that monies \u201cequal to\u201d the decreased payroll taxes be \u201ctransferred from the general fund\u201d of the U.S. Treasury to the Social Security program.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

14) NPR\u2019s Public Editor wrote that NPR is not reporting on \u201cthe NY Post\u2019s Hunter Biden story\u201d because \u201cwe don\u2019t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories\u201d \u2014 when in reality \u2014 the Post\u2019s report was accurate and implicated Joe Biden in bribery, extortion, and obstruction of justice.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
